SB 277 (Pan) would eliminate the “personal belief exemption” (PBE) from vaccination requirements for admission to an elementary or secondary school and would allow an unvaccinated child to be home-schooled. CPhA supports this bill because it will lead to a reduction in the number of unvaccinated children entering school. SB 277 was heard in the Senate Education Committee last week, where committee members expressed concerns about denying an education to children whose parents are unwilling to vaccinate yet cannot afford home-schooling. The committee will vote on SB 277 this Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 at 9:00am–we need your help to show the high level of support for this bill by healthcare providers!
